Your mind believes what you tell it! This is why it is so incredibly important to be aware of your thoughts as well as the words you’re using when speaking. This is so key to understand because the unconscious will rig things up to happen seemingly unbeknownst to us depending on what we are saying to ourselves and others. On another level, we enter a different energetic frequency according to the thoughts we entertain.
For example, as Marissa Peer points out in her Ted talk if you have to make a big presentation at work or finish a report, and your thoughts are, “Oh no! I don't want to do this! I can’t do this!” Then your subconscious will do something like have you get the flu or cause some other scenario to happen that will make you unable to do it.
On the other hand, you can actually get the subconscious working for you if you tell it that you love doing what you have to do (even if you don’t), and that you want to do it and furthermore that you are really good at it. In fact, why not tell it that you are the best at it in the whole world!
Mohammed Ali knew this. He told himself that he was the best in the world and eventually he believed it, and then it became true! Many people throughout history have done this to their massive successes.
It is possible to get rid of doubt this same way, by just choosing confidence. In essence, when you are doubting something, you are choosing doubt as you are letting it be the focus of your attention. It is possible to choose the frequency you want to be in. You are free to just choose confidence. At first your mind will not believe it and it will feel fake. You mind will say, "I don't feel confident!" It is possible to just keep saying, "I am confident! I am confident!" Then the mind starts to believe it.
By telling yourself a new story, a new reality, and not focusing on being limited and basing your experience from your past journey, you can change the future by changing your now, your attitude. Tell yourself a different story, “I can do this! I can know this! I am confident!”
As Bentinho Massaro says, “If you choose that frequency, it will happen! If you choose it, it will break through your old pattern. It will change into a different experience. Tell yourself a different story first and then your life changes! You cannot expect your story to change by your circumstances. Your circumstances will only ever change if you change the story of who you are. It is so simple! Done! Choose confidence!”
Be mindful of the story you keep telling yourself. Change everything to, “I can!” I can!” I can!” Even if you don't believe it. So that you enter a frequency range where suddenly you can. You cannot expect to change anything from within the frequency range of “I cannot!” Reality is formed by beliefs. If you say, “I cannot!” then you will not. Period.
A great example of this truth, that your mind believes what you tell it and that reality is formed by beliefs, happened to me after I was in a huge accident. After being hit by a truck going 40 miles an hour as a pedestrian on a crosswalk, I had many broken bones and the ACL in my knee was totally torn off. Right off the bat I decided I was going to make a complete recovery and that I would heal so I would be like I was before the accident. Nobody told me that I was going to make a complete recovery. I simply decided that and believed it would be so.
During the accident, I was thrown into the air upon being hit and when I landed, my forehead hit the asphalt. This affected my prefrontal cortex, which left me pretty much focused in the present moment until my brain naturally rewired itself. Military studies have been done on snipers in training that used electro-stimulation to temporarily knock out their prefrontal cortexes as this has recently been discovered to leave a person focused in the present moment and create peak performance in a person. The snipers in training improved 200 to 230 percent faster.
Being focused in the present moment gave me a huge advantage because it is not possible to be in fear, doubt or worry in the present moment. Being in the present moment also jacks up the immune system as Steve Kotler discovered and wrote about in his book, The Rise of Superman: Decoding the Science of Ultimate Human Performance.
The fantastic thing is that I did heal completely. I remember my surgeon looking at my new X-rays several weeks after the accident and being amazed. He was so amazed that he called in all the residents who were in the orthopedic department that morning to look at the before and after X-rays.
I know for a fact that your mind believes what you tell it and that beliefs create reality. As many people have said, “Change your story, Change your life!”
