Clinical Research on Polyvagal Theory byStephen Porges, PhD
and Deb Dana, LCSW.

Polyvagal Theory developed by Dr Stephen Porges and applied therapeutically by Deb Dana, provides the foundation for understanding nervous system regulation. Their work explains how shifting out of chronic fight-or-flight states into deep psychological safety transforms one’s
-emotional resilience
-cognitive function
-physical health

How this applies to the retreat:
The methods used directly engage the nervous system and help participants transition from fight-or-flight or dorsal vagal/shutdown states to ventral vagal states (feeling safety and connection).

This is achieved through:

-Practices that offer exposure to deeper levels of safety in the body.
-Somatic exercises that signal to the body that it’s safe to let go.
